The Royal Palm Golf Tournament ended on Sunday with Mohsin Zafar topping the leader board in the gross category.
According to latest reports, the golf tournament was an 18-hole extravaganza and was a collection of different golfers of various forms and strength striving for the top place. The Sunday’s play hosted regular golfing conditions in some rather chilly playing
circumstances for the golfers and ended with Zafar at the apex.
The brawl materialised from a spirited line-up which included the likes of Abbas Ali Khan, Nadeem Hassan Asif, Hussain Hamid, Shahid Abbas and Abdullah Sharif all contending for the top spot through a stroke play format.
With Zafar topping the leader board as the gross winner, the Royal Palm Golf Tournament placed Mahdi Zafar at the top place for the net first slot. The teenage golfer striving for the top place had been attacked by various players contending for the trophy
and ended the event with a net score of 73.
As far as Mohsin Zafar is concerned, his scorecard had been a mixture of pars, birdies and a few bogeys. He had to use his accurate shots and controlled swings to attack the greens as the fairways had been rather lengthy for the shots. The most difficult
play at the Royal Palm Golf Club had been the tee shots for the 4th and 5th pars where many golfers, including Zafar, had to use their steely resolve and tenacity for a lower score.
Of course, not many could fight off the length of the greens and a few bogeys were bound to appear in the cards. As for Zafar, he ended his play with a collection of eleven pars to snatch the shinning trophy as the winner.
From the wining front, Abbas Ali Khan managed to grab a place at the top of the runner-up cult for the gross category whereas Mahdi Zafar won the net first slot followed intently by Imran Miraj to end at the second place.
From the handicap 15 category, the event witnessed Ale Imran topping the first gross where as Naseer Akhter received the second gross honour. As for the net, Kamran Butt won the first net whereas Silal Ahmed stood at the second net spot.
The Royal Palm event is a part of the regular competitive events and was held without the presence of any sponsors this time. Nevertheless, the club holds such tournament in an attempt to promote sports and has plans on promoting sports like cricket, football,
tennis and squash in future as well.
