Golf Update: Nick Price, Paul Azinger are out of the U.S. Senior Open
Nick Price and Paul Azinger, both withdrew from the U.S. Senior Open tournament on Monday after receiving injuries at the Sahalee Country Club.

Nick Price, who is a two time winner of the PGA Championships and one British Open, took a withdrawal because of a toe injury. On the other hand, Paul Azinger, who is a TV commentator by profession and one time winner of the PGA championship, scuffled through a foot injury. Both of the senior championships, contestants’ could not bear the pain and decided to call it a day.
The championship is taking place at Sahalee Country Club, which was opened in 1969 and has ever since hosted many championships including 1998 PGA Championship and the 2002 World Golf Championship. Sahalee golf club is hosting the current 31st US Senior open championship form 26th July – 1st august 2010. According to the golf course management, more than 125,000 spectators are expected to witness this spectacular, high ranked, event in Seattle. The location of the event is in Sammamish, WA, which is few minutes’ drive from Redmond, Seattle and Bellevue.
At the venue of Sahalee golf club Nick Price was expected to be the top contender, as he has won two championships this season. In 1998 at the same venue, Nick Price tied for fourth position at the PGA championship.

Three players, who were on reserve earlier, took the vacated place .These three players are Gary Lindeblad a cancer survivor, William Copeland and Paul Trittler.
There are 17 PGA tour major champions left on the field after Nick Price and Paul Azinger, to compete for the 31st US senior golf championship. The 31st U.S. Senior Open is bringing 156 of the best players of professional and amateur seniors to the Sahalee Country Club. Here are few of the names expected on the field: Fred Couples, Greg Norman, Tom Lehman, Fred Funk, Jay Haas, Tom Watson, Fuzzy Zoeller, Allen Doyle and Mark O’Meara.
About 75 of the 156 contestants of the US senior open championship played their practice rounds on Monday. Couple of instructions were circulated to the player as well regarding the playoffs and they were, that if the playoff is necessary then it will be decided on the basis of three hole aggregate score. The holes are 14th of par 4,17th of par 3 and the 18th of par 4 again.
For the sake of record, the last playoff in the US Senior Open championship was in 2002 between Don Pooley and Tom Watson in which Don Pooley won by smashing a 10 -foot birdie.
The senior championship is for the player who are 50 and above. Allen Doyle who turned 62 recently on Monday is the oldest winner of the championship. He won the US Senior Open in 2006, and then he was 58-year -old.
For the spectators and the Fans, who happen to be interested in the golf history as well; will be delighted over the visit to Sahalee Founders Museum near the Merchandise Pavilion. The museum exhibit old clubs, brief biographies, trophies photos, and replicas of famous trophies. The benefactors of this exhibition are Pacific Northwest Golf Association and Sahalee golf club.
Thanks to R&A that even today, there are chances for the senior boys to compete in a championship and win it. 50 plus is an age when one needs to relax on a couch but here the story is different. All the world champions despite bad weather conditions and their age factor are all set to win the trophy.
