Golf Update: Open de France Féminin is back from 9th-12th September, Paris
The 10th edition of the Open de France Féminin is back in Paris after a gap of a decade.
The event will be gathering the 112 finest female golfers of the world from 9-12 September, 2010. Out of this huge number, only 60 leading ladies will make the cut in the final round which is taking place on Friday.
Paris International Golf Club will host this event but ironically, it has been six years that this course has not produced any French winner. Last time it was Stephanie Arricau, who declared the French victory in 2004. However, after along gap, 21 French players are competing with the international golfers to secure the trophy for their country. As for the course, it was designed by the famous architect Jack Nicklaus and it is stretched on 6322 yards with 72 par. The history of the course says that it was opened in 1991 with its rolling fairways and turning greens offering a massive visual feast for the players and spectators.
Coming to the players who are taking part in the event; France will be relying on the player who is standing sixth on the Henderson Money List, she is Virginie Lagoutte-Clement. The lady is full of zest and confidence, especially after she claimed her third victory title of the Aberdeen Ladies Scottish Open three weeks ago. This 31-year-old has captured the eyes of the bettor society after finishing as runners-up at last week’s UNIQA open that took place in Austria. She lost to Laura Davies from two strokes. However, she is back home and is ready to take the charge.
Talking to the media, Lagoutte-Clement said that she was looking forward for the first day as it was good to be back home .She further added  that the only difference she found in this tournament and others was that she did not have to take a plane  for it. However, the 31-year-old has made the cut after three years; the last time she played here was back in 2004, when she got tied for the 13th spot.
Coming back to the lady who holds the title of being the last French player to win the Open de France Feminine; Stephanie, is very excited and according to her if she gets the chance of climbing the podium and lifting the Claret jug, it will be unbelievable. Moreover, it will be far easier to deliver the winner’s speech in her own native tongue, which is French. Other French golfers include Anne-Lise Caudal, the winner o f the 2008 Portugal Ladies Open. She is, currently standing at the 17th spot of the Henderson Money List. Although she started with a slower pace this year but she managed to post three top ten finishes by the end of the season, including the third position at the Tenerife Ladies Open and fourth at the S4C Wales Ladies Championship of Europe.
Apart from these two ladies, is Jade Schaeffer, a native of Paris, and a player who is seen practicing at the course. She is the 34th on the Henderson Money List, and the top contender according to the bettors, as she has the benefit of home ground. This will be Jade’s second title if she wins it, as earlier she posted her debut victory in Germany in 2009.
This it for the 10th Open de France Féminin, which is taking place in the capital of France, at Paris International Golf Club. The event carrying a purse of 2.5 million Euros and will be starting from the 9th   September and will end on the 12th.
