Golf Update: PGA 2017 comes to Charlotte’s Quail Hollow Golf Course
Finally, the time of waiting is over and Charlotte’s Quail Hollow gets to host the PGA Championship, 2010.
For Beverly Perdue and Johnny Harris they still recall the time when back in 1993 they decided to bring in a golf designer and get the current Quail Hollow Club in the form it is today hosting the 2017 PGA championship.
The president of the PGA America Joe Steranka announced on Tuesday that the upcoming championship will be held on the old styled private course owned by Beverly Perdue and Johnny Harris. This announcement marked the third time for North Carolina to hold the PGA championship and the debut for the Quail’s. According to the media reports, this mega event will bring more than fifty thousand spectators to the city and around billions to witness the event on the television screens hence bringing in huge money in the economy of North Carolina.
As for the Johnny Harris, he is the happiest man in Quails, as he just saw the trailer of his dream coming true in front of many elites such as Jerry Richardson, who is the president of Carolina Panthers and Fred Whitfield the owner of Charlotte Bobcats. According  to Harris, it was his lifelong dream to make Quail Hollow one of the international renowned courses and to host a major championship, so that players who come here to play would remember the exquisite experience  they had while spending some of their moments in the sunny and rocky terrain of Carolina.
Coming to the PGA of America, they decided to opt for Quail Hollow after witnessing its triumph as one of the top non-majors since making a comeback to the PGA Tour in 2003.This change came when Tom Fazio, one of the famous members of the architect fraternity bought renovations to the course back in 1998. He added length to the fairways and more greens keeping the natural habitat and landscape in its original form. According to the sources, the renovation is not complete yet as couple of changes are still expected by, the August of 2017, when the first player will take his tee shot at the first hole. However, before the PGA, Quails Hallow might host a tournament in 2014, as the deal is going on with Wells Fargo & company regarding the sponsorship.
Further information about the hosting session includes a dry season from 2014-2016, as the course will go through a transition of grass which is different for different seasons.
Moreover, all eighteen greens will be re-made with a new kind of bent grass, whose purpose will be to provide resistance against the scorching heat and intense weather conditions prevailing in North Carolina. As for the spectators, a new road is being made outside the premises of the course to facilitate the inflow and outflow of traffic. However, no change will be bought in the par 72 layout, as this is one of the features of the course that has earned the most appreciation from the critics and the top players of golf.
According to the analyst, the green mile which is a name given to the last three holes saga will be the most toughest terrain for the players and it will add some spice to the end of the PGA tour. Features like these add a whole new level of challenge for the players and they make the game more exciting.
To give a quick recap of the story, PGA tour will come back in August 2017 at a new course of Charlotte’s Quail Hollow, which is situated in North Carolina. The event will write a whole new chapter for a city that has never hosted an international event before. If the owner Johnny Harris is on cloud nine after listening to this news, then so are the residents of Quails, who for the first time will witness big names of golf right in front of their eyes!
