Golf Update: Sergio Garcia pounces back to take Tiger easy
After a long break, Sergio Garcia is all-ready to step back into the world of golf. The thirty year old will be appearing at the Australian Masters this week and is highly concerned with how he performs. With the competition approaching fast, Garcia knows
the battles have changed, and so has the man that’ll enter the field.
The man from Spain has only one concern currently and that’s straightening up his game. According to Garcia, the concern is there, but comparing this season’s Tiger Woods with the previous one, maybe not that much. Garcia just doesn’t take Woods as the ever
so frightening image on the field as compared to last year when he stood gallantly at the world number one position with full zeal to defend it any moment.
Considering Garcia’s opinion of the new Tiger, he had considered the thirty four year old a definite threat but didn’t consider him the only one. Woods is no more “THE” golfer to tackle but he is rather “ONE OF” the major tussles he would be facing.
The Spaniard’s respect for Woods is still there and considers him to be an unpredictable golfer. Garcia said that the American golfer is someone you can’t just go along and play with. He said that Woods is a one of the biggest legends in golf and is a player
that one can watch, play and beat and still enjoy all.
While Garcia considers this avid golfer as somebody he would love to beat, he also can’t ignore the fact that Woods has been going through a rather rough patch in his personal as well as his professional life. Garcia said that one can’t ignore the fact that
Woods has being dealing with tough issues but at present, he is more worried about his own game than Woods.
Coming back to the necessary break this thirty year old took; the former mentioned stretch had been Garcia’s own decision.
It all began from his trip to Australia after a long 9 year stint when golf had been meddling with his mind rather too much. The main episode took place when Garcia competed in the US PGA Championship that took place in the month of August. The golfer had
a rather messed up state of mind as he attacked one of the sand bunkers with his club and kept on hacking it madly until he was actually asked to stop. To tackle such a situation, the 1999 turned professional sought places far away from the fairways.
Regarding his leave, The Spaniard said that he had playing the green field for a time too much and said that had he not taken the leave, it might have been impossible for him to come back with a positive mind. Garcia related his long time in the field as
amateur and as a professional and said that this was something he just had to do,
“Sometimes all one needs is to recharge his battery, that’s what I did” Garcia said.
