Golf Update: The Missouri Class 2 state tournament ends on a good note
The Missouri Class 2 state tournament ended with sky-scraping victorious laughter and whooping hoots, as the Notre Dame de Sion’s girl’s golf team clenched its fourth consecutive win.
The event held at the Twin Oaks Country Club ended on Tuesday with the Notre Dame de Sion’s girl’s golf team carding a 59 shot lead.
Team Sion, also known as the Strom, played a remarkable score collection of 321 which has broken the previous record of 653.
According to Briana Bondon, the team achieved the best end they can imagine. Bondon said that the team played with such high enthusiasm that it looked as if a record-breaking game was underway-and so it was.
Given the recent play by the Stroms, their influence on the golfing field affirms that some of the golfers had performed the same way they had last year. The performance thus made by the 5 golfers has placed the team to finish at the top 20.
The team was led by the co-captain Francie Reintjes, who carded an 83. Reintjes finished her game at the third place after carding an impressive 153. Bondon on the other hand collected a 78 to contribute in the total score of 154. Bondon finished her game
with the fourth place.
Other than the Bondon and Reintjes, Christina Behnken stood at the eighth place and carded an 82. Behnken scored a total of 157 which was 2 strokes above Erin Shriver. Shriver ended her game at the 11th place and carded an 81 with a total score of 159.
Moving on the 20th place, Alexandra Keane played a total of 166 for the tied place. Keane said that her team winning the tournament four times in a row is something she hadn’t imagined. She said that playing with such consistency is an awesome feeling.
The Sion team scored a remarkable 299 at the first round of the event which is also a record of its own. The confident approach and the positive energy held by the Strom paved their way towards another win which according to Behnken, was positively mind
blowing.
“It has been an enjoyable journey,” Shriver added.
The class 1 Missouri tournament:
Elizabeth Wayda played a 90 at the tournament and thus collected a total of 177 for the 16th place. At the 19th place, Caroline Wieland carded an 88 at her second round and ended her game with a 178. The event thus ended in the hands of some experienced
local girls.
