Golf Update: The Ryder Cup 2010- Westwood, Kaymer, Mickelson and Johnson analysis
Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer, who are ranked number 3 and 6 in the world, were seen teamed up against Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson at the opening fourball game of the Ryder Cup. The fourball game is this Friday at the Celtic Manor with its first match
on seven forty five a.m. the foursome play and its analysis is henceforth.
Since August sixth, Westwood has not been able to play golf in a competitive field. His reason of absence was his torn calf that had kept him from playing any major game this season. Westwood has his seventh win currently in hands. Kaymer on the other hand
is uncapped but has been the only second German to represent Europe. He has been victorious in the last two tournaments which contains the USPGA.
According to Westwood, both golfers are confident enough and are playing rather well. He says that they look forward to head out first to lead the team. Along with Westwood, Kaymer says he feels honoured to be teeing-off with such an experienced player.
On the other side of the fence stand Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson. Mickelson has his eighth cap in hands and went out exactly the way he did in 1999 and 1997. The current scenario was the exact replica with Tiger Woods absent from the field for the
lefty and it happened one time with Woods in the year 2004.
Mickelson has played with 11 partners till date and Johnson makes the 12th. Johnson played an amazing game at the US Open and USPGA event but couldn’t grasp the win in his hands because of his penalty. The big hitter apparently faced a two-shoot
penalty at the Pebble Beach and finished with a score of 81. This happened at the last hole of the Whistling Straits.
Among the previous clashes, the all famous Mickelson and Westwood have collided 4 times in history. Among the four clashes, Mickelson lost two times, won one time and Westwood was seen attaining a half.
Mickelson sees the Westwood-Kaymer team highly competitive. He says that this is a very strong team since Martin stands as the 2010 U.S PGA winner and Lee is just one of the best players out there.
Graeme McDowell was teamed up with Rory Mcllory against Stewart Clink and Matt Kuchar. The twenty one year old set with his fellow Irishman Mcllory were not the first one out. On the golf course, McDowell appeared with the reminder that he is a US Open champion
as well as the winner of the Wales Open in June this year.
According to Mcllory, the fans can expect fireworks in the field.
The partnership thus formed isn’t the first time in history. They have played four times together and have been victorious three times. The partnership has played and won for the Great Britain and Ireland in 2009. Their performance in every aspect has been
of top order which has led Mcllory’s reputation to be lethal. The Irishman, after his startling performances is known as the youngest golfer in match since Sergio Garcia from the year 1999.
McDowell couldn’t wait to get out on the field and tee-off. He said that his captain Collin Montgomerie has the whole team highly anticipated with such a strong attacking line formed up. Regarding Mcllory, he said that
“Rory is playing phenomenally.”
Against the Irishman and the twenty one year old, the Cink-Kuchar combo awaits them. Stewart Clink is the champion from the year 2009. In the last four matches, Clink has been the wild card pick for the three Ryder Cup matches. Matt Kuchar, who is Cink’s
partner, is a debutant out of the five which are appearing.
