Golf Update: Tiger Woods devastated over the divorce
When Elin Nordegren was telling the media that she was broken over her divorce, at the other end Tiger Woods was telling the press at the club house in Ridgewood country club that he wished luck to his ex wife. He also accepted that his personal issues had a severe negative impact on his game throughout the season.
Tiger said this in front of 100 of fans and 30 journalists after his Pro- Am tee session on Wednesday in the Ridgewood Country Club, where the Barclay is taking place. He had a 10 minutes question and answer session and throughout this time, Tiger looked strained and tired according to a source.
As for his game, Tiger Woods is taking part in the first play-off match for the Ryder Cup with a purse amount $5 million. Although, there are very few chances of Tiger performing satisfactory at the venue but this is certainly the last chance for the world number to set a preference for the US Team captain, Corey Pavin. So as to choose him in the wild card pick and to retain his title as Phil Mickelson is all set at the Barclays to steal the title from the wounded player.
Coming back to the interview, Tiger Woods admitted that whatever he did in his personal life in past 3 and a half years, which include cheating on his wife has affected his game and people around him in a negative way. Elin took a divorce and the kids with her, although he shares the custody but he has to seek the permission of his Ex-wife in order to meet the kids. Tiger further added that, the word sadness which Elin used in her interview given to the People magazine to describe their divorce was not the right word, as a couple does not enter into marriage to get a divorce. Therefore, when it ends, it hurts and the whole scenario becomes sad. Tiger accepted that his actions have led to this stage and he realizes that Elin is devastated at the moment.
Overall, the last two years have had a terrible impact on the players’ career which remained winless throughout the season of 2010. According to the media reports, this is the longest spell of dryness for the world number 1, who is now seeking to get a wild card by Corey Pavin, so that he can take part in the Ryder cup. Not to forget, Tiger Woods was the defending champion of the last year’s Ryder Cup.
Moreover, the 37-year-old Tiger Woods is currently standing in the 112th spot in the FedEx Cup standings, which means he has to jump at least 12 places up wards to take part in the Deutsche Bank Championship, which is taking place in Boston next week. Tiger says that he desperately wants the wild card from the captain, so that he can play for his country, as he knows he can’t achieve the Fed Ex points that are required to make a cut in the Ryder cup 2010 at Celtic Manor. In the future, Tiger Woods is scheduled to play at the Australian Masters and the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai in upcoming November.
