Golf Update: Tiger changes the swings but keeps the coach
Tiger Woods is again in the news for changing his swings and this time it is to make his game better.
The world number one has been facing lot of trouble since the November of last year. However, after the divorce, Tiger Woods is trying to figure out the real problem in his game. For that, he has taken the services of a Canadian born coach Sean Foley, who has been in the picture ever since the USPGA championship.
Initially, the only coaching Tiger Woods was using was his camera and his memory but after facing a terrible defeat at the Firestone country club, where he posted 18 over in the final round, Tiger decided that he needed guidance. The do-it –yourself approach has failed for the American and that is the reason Sean Foley is seen with Tiger during his pro-am at the Cog hills, where the BMW championship has started.
Sean Foley started Tiger Wood’s coaching by videotaping him at the PGA championship and the results became evident after Tiger posted 65 in the first round of the Barclays and then finished in a tie for the 12th spot. Last week at TPC Boston, Tiger posted three rounds with a score in 60s and finished in the 11th place. This was the very first time in the entire season for the world number one to post a score in sixties. Moreover, this was the only key   that was needed to unlock his door to the Ryder Cup.
According to the media reports, there was a time when a top 10 finish meant a slump for Tiger but now it is considered as a sign of improvement. Moreover, he has jumped from 112th spot to the 51st in the second leg of the FedEx playoffs and that is all because of him taking the practice session with the coach more seriously.
As for now, Tiger and Sean will be pairing up together for the BMW champion ship at the course of Cogs Hill, where he has posted five victories in the past. Currently he is the defending champion of the event where he won with a lead of eight shots. According to Tiger, he is very happy to be back at the venue where he has couple of good memories especially in the time when everything good has said goodbye. Ok, Tiger was referring to his ex-wife here but boy it is too late now!
Although Tiger is happy for being back but this happiness won’t be of any use if it does not improve his putting and swings. This is quite evident from his past performances on the courses where he had quite a history but failed miserably this year .For Instance he held the record of being a two time winner at St Andrews and Seven time winner at the Firestone country club  but in both places he failed to  deliver  a  good game.
Currently he is seen in an upward trend with a top 12 finish at the Barclays and top 11th at the Deutsche Bank Championship. This trend signifies a promising finish in the BMW championship after which Tiger will fly to Atlanta for the Tour championship which he missed last year. The primary goal for the world number one is to earn the $10 million bonus, which he has won twice in two attempts and it is only possible if he keeps his efforts consistent with his coach. This bonus is given to the winner of the last event of the playoff, which means Tiger has his eyes on the winner trophy.
Indeed, he has and if he wins it then the credit will fall into Sean Foley’s court .Tiger has worked with Butch Harmon and Hank Haney but never in past the results came out so fast the way did they in Foley’s case. So best of luck, as revival of success is about to start.
