Golf Update - Tiger disappoints the crowd again at the Barclays
Fans believed Ridgewood country club might be the drought-breaking ground for the world number 1 but Tiger Woods did not let it happen.
Woods’ posted a score of 73 in the second round of the day after starting it with six under and the worst the tournament that was giving an image of the final break for the world number 1 shifted from his hands and fell in the bag of the 22-year-old Jason Day, who posted a score of 8 under.
Moreover, Tiger Woods is one of the players who are expecting a call from the captain of the Ryder cup team Corey Pavin. The American selection will take place at seventh of the upcoming month, which means there are only few days left for the final countdown and Tiger Woods still doesn’t have a single top10 finish in his bag. However, Corey has given a green-signal to the player previously, has he has repeated it several times that Tiger Woods is high on the list of the wild card pick.
As for his performance Tiger Woods performed outclass yesterday in the first round of the Barclays and send a message to the Captain of the team that it was the time for his revival, as his game was beginning to show some promising signs. However, he continued performing well in the second day and went all the way to the eight under, which was marvellous after hitting a five-feet birdie on the eighteenth hole. Not to forget, Tiger started the second round with the back nine at the tenth hole and smashed two straight birdies to take a lead but trouble poured in when he entered the back nine, which ironically is the easier of the two halves.
He took his tee shot on the par three –second hole but the ball flew all the way at a length of 25 feet and chipped, posting his first bogey of the day on the scorecard. This was the turning point of the game of the world number 1 and after that it seemed as if the 37-year-old gave up hope. However, the real damage was yet to come and it unfolded on the fifth hole, right where Tiger Woods hit a driver to 15 feet in the opening round of the playoffs. Tiger planned to hit the pin with a wedge and deliver the second shot with a smooth birdie putt right into the hole but to his despise the shot was cut-half and the ball landed on the rough, posting the second bogey of the day.
Moving forward, the overall second round proved to be very challenging and competitive as nine players surged into the lead at some point throughout the day. However, the last player to take his share of the lead was J.Day who scored an eight under par, and his way into the second half of the playoffs that are due in the next week in Boston. Other players who performed satisfactory were Kevin Streelman with a 63 and Vaughn Taylor with a 70. Both the contenders have earned their way into the Deutsche Bank Championship.
Tiger Woods was seen very calm throughout the day, although the greens were very bumpy because of the foot traffic and the sun was blazing over the head of the players but Tiger did not lose his patience. His balanced temperament could be easily judged by his putt stroking that was straight and smooth all the time. According to Tiger Woods, he was satisfied with his strokes as his hits were accurate accept for the two bogeys, nothing really went wrong.
The second day at Ridgewood country club is over and the results are here. J.Senden is at the top of the leaderboard and the world number 1 Woods is nowhere to be seen in the northern-half. Despite the spectacular performance he delivered yesterday, Tiger Woods is back with his normal sluggish self at a huge figure of 73.
