Golf Update: Tiger hopeful to grab a wildcard entry into the US Ryder Cup
The American ace golfer, Tiger Woods has been successful in showing improvement in his playing form after getting back to the golf course followed by a long absence. This is probably the time for him to stay put and create marvels again in the world of golf, as always.
Despite of the fact that Woods is still the top dog of the golf course, he is still finding it difficult to make a strong comeback. According to a recent report, Tiger Woods has decided not to play in the Wyndham Golf Championship. Which is being held in North Carolina this week and that might affect him in missing the upcoming PGA (Professional Golfer’s Association) FedEX cup tour? The thirty four year old American tennis champ has already won the event twice in 2007 and in 2009, during his remarkable career but this time when he is fighting to capture the winning luck, it seems that he might miss the opportunity of winning the event.
Tiger has shown some improvement in his game during the last golf tournament but he is still far behind from the other veteran on the basis of points. Woods after his previous game is on the hundred and eighth spot, which is not at all satisfactory for a veteran performer like him. When he was in sheer need of improving his points to secure his dominance over the international golf ranking, his decision of skipping the Wyndham Golf Championship has raised many questions about his commitment to the game and his future career. Because Woods is at the 108th spot and his rank might slide down to 132; if he does not compete at the Wyndham event and only top 125 contestants will be able to make up to play in the end-seasons golfing events. PGA FedEX tour is definitely one of them. When the chances of the current number one to defend his crown are getting vulnerable, the veteran Woods is showing no signs of worry and hoping to snatch a wildcard entry for the October’s Ryder Cup.
On the other hand, Corey Pavin, British Open champion Ben Curtis and Bill Lunde can also slide down from the top 125 list to compete in the opening event of the Barclays at the prestigious Sedge field Country Club. It is already announced by the PGA officials that the players ranked in between 126 to 142 will qualify for the tour and the winner of the event will finish in the top eighty for sure.
It is still a race between the golfers to qualify for the upcoming FedEx cup, as the list of the final qualifiers is not in the scene yet. Canada’s Masters cup champion Mike Weir and Swedish ace golfer Henrik Stenson needs to finish in the top ten to qualify for the event. On the other hand, the veteran ace golfer Joe Durant, who is currently at the one fifty third spot, can also qualify if he finishes in the top five. The race is still on between the players, as no one can lose the chance of participating at the PGA FedEx championship.
Woods is still hopeful of getting lucky to enter into the US Ryder Cup. While talking about his ambitions to participate in the Ryder Cup, the American golf veteran expressed his views and said that he is very positive and he will look forward to play in the Paven Coray’s team. Golfers like Tiger Woods cannot be ignored. Players like him in the American squad for the Ryder Cup will make a great change and will certainly increase the chances of winning. Now it is Tiger’s fate whether he is going to be selected as a wildcard entry or not, because still Tiger’s career is on the verge and he cannot afford to lose more.
