Golf Update: Weibring swings into lead at the Jeld Wen Tradition
D.A. Weibring shot to 2 stroke lead after posting 5-under par 67 on Friday at the Tradition that is taking place at the Cross water Club.
Weibring over threw Tom Lehman at the Jeld Weld Traditions, which is one of the 5 big majors on the champion tour, although he has only two top-10 finishes in the past two seasons of the Champions Tour. The reason behind this struggle is a bone spur on his left shoulder which he got during a practice session 2 years back and ever since it has been a sources of trouble for the player. D.A. Weibring has not won a single event since The Senior Players championship back in 2008.
According to the analysts, Weibring for the very first time in two years has performed better and the sole reason behind this sudden change is his health, which is improving now days. If the past performances of the Veteran are compared with this seasons champion tour, one will see that he has come from the no one on the leader board to a decent spot, where he is being recognized. In fact going back into the past brings Weibring across to some double digit numbers in 2004, 2005 and 2007.
The 57-year-old Veteran feels happy after regaining health and victory at the same time. As a token for remembrance D.A Weibring, is 49th on the tour's money list and if he keeps up with the performance, he surely will bring good times back.
Regarding Weibring performance, he delivered five birdie putts ranging from 12 and 18 feet on the par 72 course, which was a big achievement for a player with a long break from victories. However, he has not separated himself from the other players on the course, as he is not the only one with 5 under .On the whole, about 13 players have a score of 5 under and that includes Bernhard Langer and Tom Lehman as well, who have collectively joined together to win the three Champions majors during 2010.
A little about Tom Lehman; he is wondering suspiciously around in spite of the fact that he delivered a miserable play for the first two days of the tournament. However, he shot 69 on Friday and had 136 strokes, with three birdies on final five holes. He finished the round at the second spot. According to Tom Lehman, it was a very difficult day for him, as he started good and confident but on his way to the end of the back nine, he got confused especially at the 12th hole of par 5 that got him running up and down the hill. More the less he saved a par and got out save without a bogey.
What the experts say is a bit different from Tom Lehman’s opinion. According to them, it was an overall decent round, as Lehman performed good and satisfactory; in fact, he delivered few good shots and three birdies which was enough for the day.
Moving forward, Gil Morgan, Jay Don Blake, Bob Tway and Fred Funk were also few prominent names and they got tied for the 3rd spot with 137strokes. Out of these four, Gil Morgan is going to turn 64 this September and the most fascinating things is that he shot a 69 in the second round which was the lowest score of them all. According to the media reports, Morgan did not have a single top-20 finish in the entire season and hasn’t got any victory tour since 2007.The reason behind these stats is his age which is affecting his game in a negative manner.
The second round of the Jeld Wen Tradition has wrapped up at the Cross water Club on Friday and the winner of the round is a tie between 13 players including D.A. Weibring, who shot 5 under to get into the first group.
