Rory McIlroy was the talk of the year throughout the 2012 season. He has brought a lot of personality to the fairways with his elegant stroke play.

He currently plays on both, the European and the PGA Tour, and has won six title on the PGA Tour and five titles on the European Tour.

He was named the PGA Tour leading money winner, the PGA Tour Player of the Year, the PGA Player of the year, and Byron Nelson award. The list of his success continues.
Out of the 194 votes cast by the Golf Writers Association of America, McIlroy received 190. The four remaining votes went in favour of the FedEx Cup Champion, Brandt Snedeker, and a single
vote for Tiger Woods.
The Golf Writers Association of America said that Stacy Lewis leads the female golf by clinching 79% of the votes.

The honour given to the Northern Irishman will just add up to the long list of awards he received this year.
