Always loved to watch the game but at 40 am I too old to start,I have only ever played on the pitch and put at lytham and pc.

If Im honest Im afraid to go on a golf course for the fist time and make an **** of my self.Has anyone out there took up the game late. To make it worse this year the open is where we live.

  1. Check around at your local golf course and see if they rent clubs (alot of them do) and then go try it out. try to get a tee time on a day they arent bussy so you dont feel rushed while your playing. and if somone comes up behind ya just tell them your new and they can play through (then you just wait and let them finish the hole.) Im new to golf too, and id say your WAY not too old to play golf. my grandfather is like in his late 70s and he plays golf every day. you could also spend some time on driving range and practice putting green so you can learn to hit and put and chip b4 you play (at the putting green throw the ball off the putting green then chip it up onto the green then try to put it in) also you might wanna check into lessons and take 1 or 2 lessons... i couldnt afford lessons though so i looked on line for free video lessons (http://www.rdbgolftips.com was a good one) between my brother and this guy im hitting 2-3 above the par for the hole and today was only my second game)

  2. Golf is fun, i played it last year for the school and it was more fun than i thought it would be, and it was a good way to get rid of the stress cause of my grades.

  3. that is very funny, I thought the same about me playing golf late in life. Guess what? I got out there and it was fun and no one really care how you look out there. because they knows how hard this game is and when you think you're better, this game will bring you to your knees in a matter of swings. There will be days you will swing your clubs like you been doing it long time (11yrs or so) and there are days you feel just like you never pick up a club.

Yes, I would suggest that you go to your local driving range and start swinging that club. also take a lesson or two to refresh your mind about how to hold the club to swing the club. so, what are you waiting for.....

ps..have fun...today I play and shot 98 and there were a few miss hits was there but I laugh at it and kept on swinging.

  4. You are never too old to take up most any activity.    The best golfer I personally know is 70 and he's scratch and hits it farther and straighter than I can.

Golf is like s*x; you dont have to be any good at it to enjoy it.

  5. You are NEVER too old - unless you THINK that you are.  Then that might be a hinderence to you.

Go have FUN and learn something new!

  6. I took it up at 36, dont worry about being less than Tiger like. Everybody started in the same boat your about to get in to.

  7. ur never 2 old.

  8. **** it

    play if you want to

    who cares if you suck

i mean if you just started people wouldnt expect a good player

  9. I've seen 85 year olds golf for the first time. Your not too old (and don't worry about embarrassing yourself, everybody does pretty badly when they begin)

Why don't you go to your local golf course and see if they have lessons?

    And yes, golf is fun.

  10. For the most part, other golfers don't care if your a beginner. It usually just makes them feel better about their game. If they are too stuck up to play with a beginner, then they never should have taken up the sport in the first place. Very few people are stuck up on the golf course.

Unless you're a jerk yourself, you could never make an asterisk of yourself. I say, you're never too old to take up the sport of golf.

  11. Go and play golf!

  12. you are never too old to learn golf,

    unless you have leukemia

  13. Yes, play it you'd like it.

  14. you'll do fine dont even think about messing up. what is the worst that can happen

  15. yes- a fun sport when you are doing good

no- when having a bad day

but overall yes get a good set and play

  16. fishing would be better
