  1. All those $40/dozen balls are for tour pros and low handicappers. Mid to High handicappers can't capitalize on the advantages that Titleist Pro-V's or Nike One's have to offer. I suggest you look for balls around the $20/dozen range, that can cater to what you need. Certain balls are designed to increase distance off the tee, others are meant to cut down the amount of spin. Just buy a ball that you believe would benefit your game, whether it be a distance or feel ball.

  2. I'm thinking that the ball won't lower your index, your skill level will. Take lessons to lower your index. Then once you have lowered your index and are consistent then look into higher grade balls. There's nothing more frustrating then loosing a five dollar ball  on a approach shot.

  3. If you are a 13 handicap, don't waste any money on Pro V1's or anything that costs more than $30 per dozen.  The best ball for you is probably the Titleist NXT Tour.  They cost between $25 and $30 per dozen and the performance is awesome.  I played varsity golf in high school from 2002-2005 and the NXT Tour was the ball that was given to each player.

  4. Most 13 handicapper are shooting in the low 80s so your game is better than average.  You probably would benefit from a slightly better golf ball.  Try the Pinnacle Extreme, it is quite inexpensive and gives good distance but is much softer than the other Pinnacles out there.  If you improve to a single digit handicap then you might consider moving up to the ProV, but beware it spins a lot.  Which is great when it comes to stopping the ball on the green - but it also spins sideways more so if you hit a hook or slice it will be exaggerated.

  5. A golf ball is NOT just a golf ball, there are different characteristics that separate the good balls from the not so good ball. 60 year ago when the balls were all the same, you had scores of plus par that were winning tournaments. Nowadays the score are in excess of -10, you have too shoot these scores just too be on the leader board. Why?, because technology has changed, which includes balls.

The ball has become the control factor in the game, its the part of the game that is used in every shot. So you want a ball that will last plus give you control on the greens.

There is nothing wrong with the pinnacle power core, although I would suggest to use a softer ball. The softer ball will allow some sort of spin to be put on the ball, the spin is how the balls stops. At the moment using the Pinnacle you will find it very hard too stop on the green. Dont go straight into the PRO V1 or callaways, try the NXT, try the Srixon... get the feel of what you need too do, then step up into the next range of balls

  6. Wasting your money. I don't notice much of a difference in scores vs type of ball. I bet if you gave Tiger a box of cheap balls, he'd still come in under par. I personally like the Titelist NXT Extreme balls. Just for the way they feel and react.

  7. Most of us would love to have a 13 handicap. Just continue to work at your game and enjoy it!!! Its the greatest game!

  8. Please people dont grade other people's answers, just give your comment.

A ball is a ball is a ball is a ball. Some say its the indian, never the arrows. I would say that the important part of selecting a golf ball is selecting one that you feel confident with. One that feels good when YOU hit it. One that you know YOU can control. It is true that some balls spin less, or fly higher, or roll better. The fact is you need to select the ball that compliments your game. If you like soft balls or hard ones is the only difference I know. The hotter the weather The harder I like my ball. The colder the softer.

Now after all this being said, these are my preferences, not yours. Find what you need and pick that one. I use the Top Flite D2 Straight and love them. 16 bucks for 15 balls. What a deal. I like the pro v's but lose them more than I putt with them. Good luck

  9. Your wasting your money . A golf ball is a golf ball plain and simple. If you hit it good, you hit it good. I hate all this hub bub on

getting the "PERFECT" golf ball. Way back when sixy years ago, they didn't have amazing equipment or amazing golf balls. They just played the game. If you play good, then you shouldnt worry about the ball. You really want to lower your handicap that bad? Go to the range. It will help! I have spent much of my life there and boy does it help.

Sorry if that sounded mean. I seriously didnt mean it to sound like that. I just don't like how some of the technology is getting out of hand.

But hey! whatever suits you. Go for it. If you feel you need to spend money on a overpriced ball then its your money.

    Just my opinion.

I believe that was a comment wasnt it? =)

Sorry fellas, if you thought i was " grading?" you...

Im just.. well opinionated.  .. No hard feelings?

  10. If you are shooting above 80 the ball is not going to make a lot of difference. If you start shooting in the 70's then you should probably move the the higher end balls. However, whatever level you play at you should stick with one brand and model of ball. For example if you choose Top Flight don't switch around with the different types of Top Flight. The reason I say this is you need to know how far your ball travels and what flight path your ball will travel. Some balls will fly high, others are designed to fly low. If you are switching balls all the time you will not be able to become consistant with your shots. You don't want to play a ball that goes low and rolls on one hole and then hit a high ball that spins on the next hole. There are enough variables in golf without adding to the mix by mixing balls. Find one you like and stick with it.

  11. If your in a quandary and the answers left here have you frustrated I can see why...lol... I sell hi-grade used golf balls and I have you a HAPPY answer...;)..seriously before you drop tht money on any new ball try it out in a good quality re-cycled ball, this way you can try & compare several different high-end sticker shock priced golf balls w/o tearing a hole in tha wallet..feel free to email me for info on attaining these..a good mix can be provided.

  12. I play Nike balls only.  I've played Pro V1 and the HX by Callaway.  Nike makes 2 piece, 3 piece and 4 piece balls.  They say the 4 piece balls are for players with fast swing speeds and that a 2 piece ball is more for a mid to high handicapped player.  Personally, I like the more expensive balls, especially around the greens.  If you swing the club properly, it doesn't matter how fast your swing is.  You'll hit the ball straight.  That is all that matters.  Once your lower your handicap to the low single digits, it will matter what kind of your ball you use.
