Golf becoming preferred sport for women
There are only a few sports in the world that interest both men and women, but golf has recently emerged as a sport liked by a huge number of people irrespective of their gender.
From the outset, golf has had a distinct reputation among its players and followers that it is men who dominate the sport. However, in recent years, an overwhelming number of women have chosen to join golf
— both professional and amateur.
While it makes sense to give most of the credit to men’s golf for promoting the sport across the world, the efforts of female golfers cannot be written off as worthless.
The LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association), for instance, has been able to increase the scope of women’s golf across the world, and now the sport is ambitiously followed by women in countries that had
never even heard of the sport before.
One such woman, who is an avid golfer and likes to spend a considerable time of her routine on the course, is Stephanie Bezilla.
Bezilla is the Director of Metalwood Engineering at Titleist and loves to devote her spare time to golf.
Bezilla recently talked to Golf Digest Woman where she spoke her mind, telling the world that golf is not limited to male only — it can be mastered by women too.
Being a 2-handicap, the avid golfer has been playing for a long time now and spends most of the time on the course while she does not have business or work to worry about.
When asked how she copes with all the pressure — as she is at a crucial position at the Metalwood Engineering, Bezilla laughed it off by saying that people usually wonder about her, but to her, it is all in
a day’s work.
“I guess it's surprising, even though I choose not to think of myself as a novelty but as a part of the team,” she said.
Bezilla went on to say that questions like these crop up all the time, and there is a plausible reason for that. She said that since there still are not many women in golf — compared with male circuit — people
ask out of curiosity that how she copes with pressure that comes due to business, daily and personal life.
“I think you have people's attention because there aren't as many women in this industry that can speak with a technical competency about golf clubs and performance, and really also speak from the player's
perspective. That's a really powerful package, whether you're a man or a woman”.
