Im a 4 handicap junior in high school (junior-rhetorical) who gets very good grades, 4.25 GPA, and aspires to play college golf. I believe that I don't have a great chance to get on a mediocore D1 team because I don't do the AJGA, just the local SCPGA (1 win, 5 top 3's). So I was wondering, what are some decent golf schools in the California, Arizona, Nevada, or Texas area that have a strong educational background and forefront with a solid golf team. Somewhere along the lines of a UC San Diego would be preferred.

  1. That doesn't mean you won't attract a D1 school.  With your academic background you can attract any school and get a academic scholarship and walk on the golf team and earn a scholarship.  You could also write a letter to a number of golf coaches expressing interest in attending their school.  Tiger Woods wrote a letter to the Stanford coach and guess where he ended up playing golf in college?  Not the greatest example because everyone knew about Tiger's abilities.  Arizona, Arizona State, UNLV, and Pepperdine are possibilities.
