Question:

Golf driver wear and tear?

The other day I finally understood the purpose of a 'wood cover'. I was walking down a slope and my bag felt the urge to believe it could fly. Unluckily for me it landed flat on some cement. After picking it up i realised all my clubs were fine except the vulnerable 1 wood. It had a few scratch marks around the corner of where the top of the club meets the side. Its hardly noticeable but the very next shot I shanked my driver incredibly. Would of these very small scratch marks effected the ability of my driver? If so whats my next course of action. The driver is 1 month new. Appreciate all the help. And I am fully aware this could just be a state of paranoia, like dropping a baby!

  1. No not at all, I have dropped several of my clubs and it hasn't effected anything.  I have a 3 wood that I have dropped 5 or 6 times but its still money.

  2. Dropping a baby and dropping a driver are nothing alike. The scratches won't change the performance of the club. Good to know you worked out what wood covers are used for.

    Have a good one...

  3. Its one of those mental/nerves things. "HOLY c**p I DROPPED MY BAG!" Then your nerves kick in and you fill your head with worries of "did I break, I hope nothing is wrong with it", and you forget to focus on the shot. As long as there are no cracks in the shaft or head of the club you are fine. Just block the though from your head when you swing it.
