  1. The proper thing to do is consult with whoever runs the gym. They are the ones who should know the muscles involved in the game and give you the proper exercises. Why ask us dummies who stretch left, stretch right, touch toes left, touch toes right, put club behind back held inside elbows , twist left then right and then get ready to hit that first drive.

  2. One really good piece of equipment to help out your core and golf game is a kettlebell.  You can find workouts online that really focus on golf and strengthening your core.  Don't go overboard at first, get about a 20 pounder and just imatate your golf swing with it, you will feel it really strenghthing your core and your forearm muscles.  Both which are very important in your golf game.

  3. To best improve your golf game, you should develop your lower body strength and work on your flexibility.

Lower body strength - stronger legs will give you a solid base during your swing, helping to increase distance and actually reduce your mishits due to loss of balance. If you don't already, start walking the course more. Running or walking, squats, lunges, and other leg exercises will help - ask your gym's trainers or other members for more details.

Flexibility - increasing your range of motion will generate more power during your swing, as well as help with balance and overall health. (You have a lesser chance of pulling a muscle if you are flexible, for example.)

Congrats on joining the gym and doing something to improve both your health and your golf game - best of luck!
