yea ive got mizuno mx 25s. great feel, playability with some forgiveness, its an all around great set of clubs. but i was lookin at there site and saw that they forge all of their clubs except for 1 set. Why, just for better quality. i luv mizuno clubs, and i cant believe those forged clubs dont attract as many golfers. i can see a reasoning of the lack of forgiveness (there clubs are more playable than most companies). also do you think its because they don't have as many tour winners. Luke Donald is the only real good player for them, and he hasn't done any thin this year, altho i hav him winning the british.

  1. Forgings are typically for better players, however there are forged clubs for all handicap levels depending on the manufacturer.  Forged irons, in my opinion, feel much better than a cast iron.  I played the Mizuno T-Zoid True Irons and it was a while before I realized they were forged.  They felt much better than the irons I played previously.  I play Nike Pro Combos now and they are forged as well.  They are actually more forgiving than the Mizuno irons I used to play.  As far as Mizuno irons on the tour, look more at European Tour and Asian Tours.  There are a number of players on the PGA Tour and Nationwide Tour using Mizuno irons as well.  I always recommend them on YA for those who have the ability to play them.

  2. Why they don't attract as many golfers as casted irons?

Cause it's more expensive to make one and to buy one.

But I like forged cause it can be bent for the right lie angle.

  3. It all depends on how much you want to work the golf ball.  Forged clubs will help you you draw or fade the ball whereas the Cavity Back clubs will help keep the errant shots to be not so bad.  The decision as to which type of club depends on what type of game you play.  Good luck and low scoring!

  4. There are probably more PGA Tour players using Mizunos than you think. And the name recognition is out there. Not too many high handicappers know them, but you ask just about any good golfer (single digit handicappers) to name a few good forged irons, and almost all of them will say Mizuno.

Tour players love forged irons. Most club manufacturers make at least one set of forged irons, and even I'd bet you 95% of Tour players are using a forged set, even if they're not Mizuno.

  5. The forging process renders a softer alloy than that of a cast alloy. The end result is a soft metal and soft feel at impact. That's it. The mx 25s are what are known as cavity-back irons. These irons are for the mid handicap player who is working on solid ball striking and beginning to work shots. Still forged they give a very soft feel but the cavity back is more forgiving than a blade style or muscle back design. This also gives you an extremely light response to dead on hits and a more violent response to toe, heel, or thin shots. This brings you to the next level of ball striking while not hindering you from working golf shots or losing progress you made with your starter set. Now the reason Mizuno forges all of their clubs is just because that is the type of clubs they make. They make expensive clubs for advanced players. Golden Bear makes cheap clubs for recreational players. Their clubs are cast. This is why you don't see the Mizunos as much as the cheaper types. Do understand blade style iron players are in the minority anymore. The type of players that these style of clubs attract are few and far between and end up being distributed through Mizuno, Nike, Taylormade, and Cleveland to name a couple. I'm infact the only player i know that plays them in my circle of friends and I am certainly the only one with a 2 iron. Another big thing about not seeing them on tour is they ARE on tour but the other sponsors pay more to have their caddy carry the bag and play a different driver. That doesn't mean they don't play Mizuno blades. On the contrary you will find a lot of players that make that their sole iron set.
