there are lots of rules--that is if you play by the rules which most people dont. if you do play by rules you need to carry a little rule book so you wont get penalized a stroke or two

Most are easy but are based on betting or drinking.

The basic game is nassau where you are betting on who has the best score at three points: after the first 9, after the second 9 and the total score.  So if you had the best score on the front 9 you win one betting unit.  If you lost on the back 9 you lost 1 unit.  If you have the total lowest score you would win 1 more unit.
