  1. If you can, try finding friends who could give you a old set of clubs or find a yard sale or even just a thrift shop where you can find atleast a...driver, putter, pitching wedge, and as well a 5 and 7 iron to get you started to make sure you still like it. You can also find cheep balls from a thrift shop or yard sale.

If you can, find yourself some lessons and also a close friend who can also help you and be your golf buddy for when you want to play.

Though if you feel your into it or have been playing for a few months, then get yourself a starting kit. Then later you can upgrade the bag and clubs. This might also be a good time to get yourself a pair of golf shoes.

Some tips: Don't buy the expensive stuff. For now, work on your game until you imporve. I'm serious, don't worry about your equipment. If your right handed, buy yourself a golve for the other hand or vice-versa. You don't need a glove for each hand unless you feel better, or you may not need one at all.

Oh, and I think evenyone has a chance at golf. Most people just stop because they don't do well. I'm glad your willing to give the best sport out there another chance!

One more thing...don't worry about other people watching you and if you look stupid or not. It happens to us all when we first started. You can get through it! Just make sure you keep your head down, keep your eyes right behind the ball, and haha...don't kill it!

  2. I don't know about you, but I'd leave well alone ANY hobby that had perverts marrying four year olds like above!

Just kiddin'. Any thing that you are interested in you can whack away at, it's all case of what ever turns you on really.

Get your balls out, drive around all day, sun and rain till ya get it right. Just keep your eyes open for the others (like above) all out there, rain and shine, whacking this way and that. You might never be good, but you'll look no more (or less) stupid than all the other idiots out there!

What have you got to loose................except time.....................and money?

  3. Don't worry about it. If u really wanna do it then well DO IT!!! it's a blast! and everyone has to start somewhere right? Don't worry I always see new women golfers with their golfer boyfriends, not having a clue what to do much less even what to wear! Have fun with it! :D

  4. You can take it up now. And yes you are going to look stupid. Everyone looks stupid when they first start golfing. Just find someone to take lessons from.

  5. miss ucanhelp I taught my wife when she was 4? and now she 5? and she can break 90 keep head down left arm straight

  6. go with other friends on a par three course and just joke around and have fun but keep with it and when you get better play on harder and harder courses

  7. If you are serious about taking up this difficult sport, find a good PGA teaching professional or a good instructor. Good fundamentals will get you far. Trying to skimp on the lesson will only hurt your game later on down the road and very difficult to correct any bad habit you formed in your golf swing. Trust me sign up for a few lessons, it'll be worth it.

  8. The best advice I could offer is to find a good pro and take lessons from the start to avoid getting into any bad swing habits

  9. Don't spend any money for lessons just yet.  Find a friend who plays regularly and go to the driving range with them.

Find " YOUR " natural swing.  Don't worry about the 101 different things people tell you that you need to do to hit a ball off a tee.

In the beginning, the slower and more controlled swing will drive the ball further and straighted than the fast swing.

Learn the game "from the hole back". That is, go to a putting green for a few hours with a friend and learn to putt.  It's a lot of fun even for beginners. after you get a feel for putting, learn the chip shot.   The learning experience should be fun.

Let me warn you now.....If you like the game and decide to make it a hobby, it is expensive, it is addictive, and it's the only game in the world that the better you get at it the more you realize how bad you are.   Enjoy and good luck.

  10. go to the range with a friend and hit some balls. i would tell you to go the local pro, but most pros want everyone to swing the same way he or she does. Like in one of the anwers before mine, find your own swing. i just broke 70 the other day. i have only had 1 lesson. i know my swing because i practice.

    practice hard  :)
