  1. Base yourself in Fife in Scotland - St Andrews with its 7 courses is right there, Ladybank, Carnoustie is just across the bridge, many, many other courses, all with character.

  2. Any where in the British Isles for certain.  Other options would be Portugal(Algarve) or Spain(Valerama)

  3. LOOK AT TROON GOLF,  ITS THE THIRD LARGEST GOLF MANAGEMENT COMPANY IN THE WORLD. THEY HAVE COURSES ALL OVER EUROPE. YOU CAN GET A CARD AND EARN REWARDS POINTS. THEY ARE INTERNATIONAL SO REALLY THEY ARE ALL OVER THE WORLD AND ALSO HAVE MANY COURSES HERE IN THE STATES. GOOD LUCK AND HAVE A GREAT TRIP.

  4. If you go to Europe just once to play golf, it would have to be to Scotland; the home of golf. I would stay in Edinburgh as it is one of the most beautiful capitals in the World.

From Edinburgh there is a stretch of golf courses along the coast to the East all the way to North Berwick, including Muirfield, which is  the only course to have hosted the Open (15 times, the most recent in 2002), the Amateur, the Mid Amateur, the Ryder Cup, the Walker Cup and the Curtis Cup.

One hour North of Edinburgh you have St. Andrews with all its history and 7 great courses. Starting times on five of St Andrews Links courses,  The New Course, Jubilee, Eden, The  Strathtyrum, and the newest one, The Castle Course, can all be easily enough booked.

Also, a little more than 1 hour to the north, in the Highlands, are the 3 Championship Courses of GlenEagles. As well as the challenge of the King's, the secluded charms of the Queen's, or the  nine  hole Wee Course, there is the exceptional PGA Centenary Course created by Jack Nicklaus, venue for the 40th Ryder Cup matches in 2014.

This is golf in Scotland at its best.

  5. Most courses and all the famous historical ones are in the UK, northern England and Scotland.  But don't overlook Ireland which has some beatiful courses as well.  Most foreigners think they will go in June (middle of summer) to get the best weather and most sunshine, but I have heard September is better (still warm, but less chance of rain).  Hate to travel thousands of miles and play golf in the rain everyday.

  6. Hi,

I would recommend the UK as it has the most diverse range of courses and the largest number in Europe.

However if you are looking to play golf in the sun you should probably choose either Spain or Portugal.
