  1. I would suggest stretching, walking, lighter weights for lower bulk, maybe one of those speed sticks Vijay uses.

  2. I assume you new in golf...

    My advise...

    1. Learn how to hold your club correctly

    2. learn about golf setup correctly

    3. practice your swing correctly

    4. practice hit the ball solidly

after you can hit ball solid, then many other things ou can learn from many sources.

  3. Going by the question I assume you are a relatively new golfer. Old golfers would probably know what works best for them.

It is no good training or swinging a club unless they are golf specific related exercises.

If you don't have any books to look at there are lots of tutorials available on the web.

Stretching and Yoga are both very good for golf. Again though they need to be golf specific.

If you are going to hit balls start off with half and quarter swings before building up to a full swing.

  4. weights practice swinging correctly and go play

  5. You should be doing weights and cardio to get in (or stay in) shape anyway. Swinging the club should keep your golf muscles active, but practicing good general conditioning practices will improve all aspects of your health and well being, including your golf game.

  6. some weights would be fine, esp working on your core muscles, back legs, abs...also doing a good bit of stretching will help alot since flexabilty helps with a good swing.

  7. Are you playing for a team or are you just playing recreationally?  Either way, it wouldn't hurt to do both.  Go to coreperformance.com and the will have a specific workout for golfers.

  8. I've worked with a number of top golf coaches and I would suggest you look them up - Ramsay Macmaster runs the golf injury clinic in Melbourne and has lots of tips on how to prepare yourself properly for the coming season...I think he calls it serialisation or the traffic light system. Not sure of the url but I think it might be golfmed.net.

I also bought Roger Federicks DVDs when I was in the States - there's a lot of good exercises in there - just stretching no need to do weights. Sorry not sure of his url.

  9. Unless your really hardcore, I would just practice swinging. If you are a really avid golfer then if you look in Golf Digest they have tips for getting ready for the season, which include weights, medicine balls ect.

  10. lots of practice especially your swing.

  11. There are a lot of great exercises out there for getting into shape for the season. You should also think about exercising all season long to stay in shape and keep up your stamina.

You may find yourself stalling around the turn and just pooping out if you can't keep up the pace.
