  1. Do not get in the golf business if you care to make money.  There are some pros as well as cons like any job.  But no, the salary is horrible and so are the hours.

  2. It depends on the local market.

  3. Mostly long hours for low pay, but if you love the game that won't bother you so much.

  4. Like any industry, golf follows the same basic salary structure no matter what location you are in. Without knowing what side of the industry you were offered the position for will keep most answer on the general side. If you are on the operation side; guest service, pro shop, maintenance, so forth, you can expect an entry level salary to be much less then you would imagine. In the United States I would put an average entry level position (Outside Guest Service) near $24,000 and an Assistant Pro around $26,000 far below the national average. Of course the more prestige your course has the higher the green fees, the more employees.. you see where I am going. Lets face it, there is more appeal to work at a golf course for many so the lower pay is worth it to them. With some time though a Head Pro, Director of Golf, General Manager, or Superintendent can make a comfortable three figure salary.
