Corey Pavin withdraws from Ned bank Golf Challenge
Corey Pavin has taken a withdrawal from the Ned bank Golf Challenge, owing to some personal reasons. Jeff Sluman will be teeing off in his place at the Gary Player Country Club, Sun City, South Africa.
The tournament, which kicks off every year between the closing event of PGA Tour and Christmas, is ready to hit the course with a massive field. Four major winners, top Sunshine order of merit players, and the top most golfers in official world ranking will
gather at the most magnificent course in Africa.
However, the Ryder Cup striker, Corey Pavin will not be part of the team. The American wrote a letter to the director of the tournament, Alastair Roper and regretted not being able to join the event. Roper told the press that replacements had been made and
Jeff Sluman had agreed to join the team.
Sluman is a former PGA Champion and is in a very strong form, which makes him eligible for the championship.
According to Roper, “The quality of senior player that will be competing in the Ned bank Senior Golf Challenge promises to produce a most memorable event, and as with the other over-50 champions, Jeff Sluman has managed to take his winning form from the
PGA Tour to the Champions Tour. He has won three titles in two seasons, and finished the 2010 season with earnings of almost $1 million, which placed him among the top-15 money earners.”
Sluman will be teeing off along a massive team. According to a press release, Mark McNulty, David Frost, Nick Price, Fulton Allem, Jay Haas, Tommy Armour III, Ross Fisher, Paul Casey, Miguel Angel Jimenez, and Fred Funk will be part of the field. The tee
times for the senior professionals are scheduled in the morning to accommodate them.
This was the latest for Corey Pavin who has taken a withdrawal at the last moment from the Ned bank Golf Challenge, which is about to kick off in Sun city, South Africa. The veteran had issues with his child care plans, thereby, could not take part in it.
However, Jeff Sluman has replaced the striker and will be teeing off on December 1st.
