Golf latest: The Panasonic Open 2010 is being led by Bhullar, S.K. Ho, Shintaro Kai and Hosokawa
The Panasonic Open 2010 is currently being led by a tie that contains Gaganjeet Bhullar with a 67. The event is over with its first round and has Bhullar’s name on the top along with the Korean, S.K. Ho and the men from Japan,
Shintaro Kai and Kazuhiko Hosokawa.
Bhullar was the only player at the Panasonic Open who played bogey free. At the challenging par-71 course, the twenty one year old attained four Birdies in total and now has a brilliant chance of winning the tournament. The East
course of the Rokko Kokusai Golf Club was played brilliantly by Bhullar and has set up a great platform for him to build upon and win his 3rd Asian Tour title.
As far as Ho and Hosokawa are concerned, they both have a total of 8 victories from Japan and have had a strong start. The event has a purse of 1.7 million dollars and it looks like Ho and Hosokawa have their eyes on the million
dollar amount. The Panasonic Open is an event co-sanctioned by the Asian Tour as well as the Japan Golf tour.
Apart from those who are leading the pack, there are those who are chasing too. The Australian, Marcus Fraser and the title holder, Daisuke Maruyama, are among those who are trailing the leaders with a 68 in R1 of the tournament.
Ryo Ishikawa from Japan is slightly behind the chasers with a 69 in hand. The man from South Korea, Noh Seung-Yul carded a score of 70 at the event which was contracted to a mere 54 holes since it was delayed due to the bad conditions
because of the weather.
Bhullar displayed his precocious ability brilliantly today, and he carded 3 amazing birdies in a row, from hole 12 to 14.
Bhullar said that playing 54 holes is a lot different from the usual and changes a lot of things. He said that the layout presented is extremely tough and his main focus had been to play a sensible game. The twenty one year old
stroked the ball well and did his best to reach the fairway every time. After the first round, Bhullar went home with an amazing back nine performance placing him in a tie with Ho, Kai and Hosokawa.
