Golf not the only passion for Nicole Zhang now
Nicole Zhang has found the answer to the number one question asked by every pro and amateur golfer, ‘What would I do if golf does not work out?’
For Zhang, golf used to be the only sure thing in life. It was a constant in the ever changing life of the golfer. This is not the case anymore. The Canadian golfer has introduced other activities in her life, and much to the surprise of everyone, it has
not affected her game.
Talking about this huge change, Zhang said, “In the past, golf was all I had. But now I'm starting to branch out into other things, and I'm actually playing better”.
This improvement in her game could be seen in the recent quarterfinal of the US Women's Amateur, where she defeated the Australian player, Su-Hyun Oh by a score of 2 and 1. It was a great match that offered some tense moments to the fans of both the players.
She has become a calm person. This calm showed throughout the quarterfinal in which Zhang was very cool. She played a great game and her win has got more to do with her composure than her skills.
Commenting on this, she said, "I felt the same when I was down by two and when I was up. I didn't really look at the score too much or pay attention to it. I just kept trying to hit one good shot at a time".
Nicole Zhang wishes to become an entrepreneur. She has been planning her moves for a long time and is now ready to launch a yet undisclosed product line. This secrecy is due to a trademark registration issue that she will soon iron out.
This shift is not the only direction Zhang is pursuing. Recently, she has taken up volunteering and painting furniture. These activities provide the much needed distraction that actually benefits her game.
She has also decided to switch colleges and will now attend Northwestern University instead of the Notre Dame. This switch will allow her to focus on her business and leave her sufficient time for golf.
