I'm trying to decide between playing golf or tennis. I've never really played either that much before. Which do you think is better for a girl still in school to play? Is there a place I can take lessons for either of these sports near Johnstown PA? What all do I need to get started with these sports? How much do lessons for either of these sports normally cost? Sorry if I asked so many questions but I need help! Thanks!!!

  1. it all depends on what you're looking for.  i play both tennis and golf, they are both fun.  Tennis is cheaper generally for the equptment.  however you could pay 1000 dollars to be part of a tennis club not counting lessons.  it all depends on what you want to do.  Golf and tennis lessons are available everywhere becuase where there is golf, there is tennis.  I like tennis more becuase it is a sport that is active and fun and a sport for life.  Golf is a sport for life and fun, however not physically demanding.  I would try out both sports and see witch one you like the best.  Try borowwing friends equiptment so you don't pay for things you will not lose.

Which reminds me, golf you can play by yourself or with people that are no where near your skill level.  In tennis, you nead somebody or many people that are all around your skill level to play with.

Also, if you really enjoy both, you can play both!

  2. I Play Golf, Golf is probaly more expensive because you will need a minimum of 4 clubs (driver, sand wedge, 5 iron, and a putter). you will also need golf balls and a golf bag, and probaly some more clubs (3 wood, couple irons and a wedge) (Can cost hundreds of dollars) Now lessons are probaly the same price for both.  But to play golf, you need to pay to get on the course/driving range.

In Tennis you need a tennis racket (usally $20) and some tennis balls and a partner.  You could probaly find a tennis court any where in the US.  Find a public school tennis court, you can use that and it is free.

Tennis is a cheaper and more easier to find sport than golf.
