  1. No.

  2. No it is not legal. If you ever have doubt of what you can and can't do, you'll probably find the answer in the rules of golf.

    Have a good one...

  3. No it is not legal unless the ball is damaged beyond playable use.

You can only switch balls once the hole is over.

    I hope this helps.

  4. No you can not change golf balls on the golf course.  You must play with the same ball during a hole. Unless you go OB or water your ball can't be replaced with a different ball.  The only time you can even pick your ball up is if you are playing pick clean and place.

  5. Absolutely not! USGA book on the rules of golf

  6. Isn't that rather personal? :)

  7. No you cannot change balls in the middle of playing a hole.  As a matter of fact, you can't even pick up your ball unless it is on the green with the exception of playing in wet weather where the golf course's local rule permits 'pick and clean'.  But in either case, you MUST put the same ball back in the same spot after you picked it up to clean it.

Since golf is a game where you 'play as you find it', meaning you play the ball as you find it after your shot, so even if it has mud on the ball, or it is sitting in a divot on the fairway, you must hit that ball just as you found it.

USGA Rule 15-1 and 15-2 clearly states that a player cannot substitute a ball in play unless allowed by other rules that generally regulates balls not recovered, such as lost ball, water, not found or local rule to pick and clean...etc.  Substituting a ball in play is a 2 stroke penalty or lost of hole in match play.  This also means if you found your ball, and is not playable, or out-of-bounds, or entitled to free drop relieve, you must drop the SAME ball.
