Hey, im trying to better my putting...i have heard two differant putting strokes...the first was from Gary McCord...he described that the putter should be straight on back swing and on impact and follow through...and a way to practice was by keeping it straight to a piece of wood on the ground...

and the second was from Dave Maga where he says the putter should be on an arc like a mini golf swing...where you swing back on an arc and on impact...which is correct???

  1. Arc is more consistent. Plus Tiger putts arc so...

  2. Worrying about your putting stroke is the best way to miss puts.  Do what feels comfortable and practice, practice, practice.   Its a mind game.

Both of the techniques you mentioned are great foundations for a solid putting stroke.  Try them both and see which one you get the best results from.

  3. Both.  Do which one works best for you or is more natural to you.

  4. well i keep the putter in a pendelum stroke - i do the opposite grip - i putt right handed but my grip is like a left hander. this keeps my wrists from breaking and innconsistancies in putting, i have been playing golf for 28 years and have tried everything. now knowing what works for me. it's all up to you and how you use it. good luck. keep to it golf is a fun but frustrating at times sport.

  5. There is no exact way to put. Just like there is no exact way to make love to your wife.

  6. I put on an arc and I put it very well, but you should do what works best for your swing.
