  1. In a casual round, the modern 'norm' is to play 'ready' golf (by that, no pre-determined order other than the player who is ready should tee off first so as to maintain a proper pace of play).

In matchplay, the player who has won the most recent hole has the honour and tees off first.  In medal (stroke) play, the player with the lowest score on the most recent hole tees off first.

In the fairway and on the green, typically, the player furthest from the green/hole will play first.  In match play this is an absolute requirement (a player hitting out of turn can be forced to replay the shot by their opponent).

In a casual round, pace of play and playing 'ready golf' should dictate order.

As an example, if four players are in the fairway and one is seeking bladder relief, the other three should go ahead and hit their approach shots, even if the fourth might be a few yards further back.

  2. off the tee you play the honors system, whoever has done the best on the following hole goes first and it decreases. On the first hole you just pick an order to go in it does not matter. On the green it is whoever is farther away from the hole. On the fairway or anywhere on the hole it is whoever is farther away from the hole.

  3. golf is weird.

  4. 1. If you are in a tournament with preprinted scorecards, the top person is first to tee off. If it is the regular foursome, and partners have been chosen, one will flip a golftee into the air and the person it points to will have the honor. Calling a coin flip is another method to determine who is the first to play.2. On the green. The person whose ball is farthest from the hole will stroke first followed by the next farthest etc. to the nearest. 3. The Fairway. The person whose ball is farthest from the green plays followed by the next farthest, etc.

  5. In most cases golfers "should" play ready golf. That means you hit when you are ready. This speeds up the play and you aren't holding groups up behind you.

However, if you are playing "honors" golf, the player that had the lowest score on the last hole goes first. If it was a tie then the player with the lowest score on the previous hole (and so on).

After the tee shot the player that is furthest from the hole is the next to play until all the balls are in the hole.

  6. Off the tee... Whoever got the best score on the last hole... If two or more players tied, the one of them that got the best score on the hole before that...

On the green and fairway, the person farthest away shoots first...

  7. can you clear up the question please

  8. Well off the tee on the first hole whatever but after that the lowest to higest score in that order or you can do ready golf and just whatever then on the green its the farthest away from the hole hat goes first and same in the fairway

  9. Person with lowest score on the previous hole tees off first.  If everyone tied you tee off in the same order as the previous hole.  On the fairway or on the green the person who's ball is furthest from the hole hits first.

  10. off the tee can sometimes be decided by a coin flip or just who ever is ready the other two whoever is farthest away shoots first then the next hole the player with the lowest score on the previous hole goes first and so on
