Hello. Thanks for reading this. I was wondering what the golf terms, birdie, bogeym, double bogey, and triple bogey mean. Please tell me if you know. Thanks.

  1. First of all, PAR is the recommended number of golf shots it "should" take to complete a particular hole on a golf course.  I.E. A par 4 should take 4 shots to get the ball into the hole.  All of the terms you asked about are names for your score on a hole.  Birdie= 1 below par  (i.e. a 3 on a par 4 would be a birdie)  bogey= 1 over par  Double bogey= 2 over par.  Triple bogey= 3 over par.

    Eagle= 2 under par  Double eagle= 3 under par.

  2. Say the "Par" for the 18th hole is 5. A Birdie is finishing the hole in "fore" strokes. One better then Par. A Bogey  would be finishing the hole in 6 strokes. One "more" then Par. A double Bogey is two strokes "over" Par. That would be 7 strokes for the par 5 -18th hole. A triple Bogey three strokes "over" par and so on.

    An Eagle is 2 strokes "better" then par. Par 5 - 18th hole three strokes to finish the hole.
