Golf tournaments set to boost the Malaysian Tourism Industry – Golf News
The Malaysian Tourism industry is set to get a boost from the two major golf tournaments that are scheduled to be held in Malaysia this month.
The tournaments include Maybank Malaysian Open and the inaugural Asia Golf Tourism Convention.
Both the tournaments will be played from April 22 to 25, 2012, at the Kuala Lumpur Golf and Country Club and The Palace of the Golden Horses, respectively.
Both the Tourism Malaysia and the Malaysia Golf Tourism Association are looking forward to the successful staging of both the events while attracting attention of the golf lovers from all over the world.
The Malaysian Open is expected to be a big hit this year because of the confirmation by five major winners to participate in the event.
Moreover, there are several other European players who showed their interest in making their appearance in the event.
Therefore, a number of European golf fans will be visiting Malaysia in order to get close to their favourite players and enjoying the game on the course.
“Malaysia host quality tournaments. They have impressive golf courses with varied and unique landscapes. The country is beautiful and the people are nice,” Chris Syer, MGTA Executive Director, said.
“Almost every golfer that I know has only good things to say about Malaysia,” he added.
“Colin Montgomerie, who is my friend, used to find the hot weather here a bother but he always comes back because he loves the friendly people and the warm reception he gets here. Malaysia is a great destination for golf tourism”.
Paul Gibbons, the Chairman of MGTA, also talked about selling the idea of making the country as a golf destination for people all over the world.
He said that Malaysia has numerous golf courses spread all over the country. Therefore, the MGTA needs to promote the game of golf and its availability in the country through the convention that will be held after the Malaysian Open.
There is no doubt that the MGTA and Tourism Malaysia is currently working hard to cash the opportunities provided by the staging of big golf events in the country.
