Golf update: Westy to fix swings in pursuit of a major victory
Lee Westwood is serious regarding winning a major title and it is evident from the statement he made during an interview. He said, “I have come very close. I have given myself some great chances. I will be gearing up to the majors. It will be daft to do
the same things, as I have not won one yet. You have to try and change something a bit here and there. I will try and fine-tune, work on different aspects and try and get one."
The world number one is thinking of changing his swings and schedule to reach the goal. The Englishman made a statement earlier this month that he was gearing up for the majors in 2011, but did not disclose how. However, last night he made his motives clear
by stressing on certain changes that he wanted to bring in his game.
Westy finished second in Masters and Open Championship, unable to card a victory.  The winner of NedBank Golf Challenge and St Jude Classic started his professional career in 1995, but did not taste a victory at majors ever.
Despite the failure to bag a trophy at majors, the veteran is world number one. With power comes added responsibility and Westy knows that. Fans expect the world number one to be perfect, which is why he wants to fill in the missing spot in his professional
career.
He explained, “It is a spot that everybody wants. You are aware that everyone is trying that bit extra to beat you. But if you work hard at something and achieve your ultimate goal of being the best in the world, you have to enjoy it and revel in it.  Everybody
is entitled to their opinions," he said. "The fact that their opinions are wrong does not matter too much. It is just one of those things. Not everyone is always going to be happy."
After getting Ryder Cup trophy for Europe, Lee Westwood has set out on a journey to fix mistakes and get a major trophy for himself. To make the victory evident, Westy will be changing his swings and altering his schedule for the next year.
