  1. On a golf course there are 18 holes in consecutive order. Starting with the first and ending with the eighteenth. In professional golf on Thursday and Friday at tournaments because there is such a large field they have some groups start at the tenth as well as the first as to cycle everyone through in one day. That is how the ninth hole can be someone's eighteenth. They started at the tenth and played the "Back Nine" and when they were done they went back to the first hole and played the "Front Nine." But their 18th hole is still the ninth hole on the course.

  3. In golf there are 18 holes.  The 1st is the 1st hole, the 2nd hole is the next hole you go to after the 1st, the 15th is the 15th hole after you go through holes 1-14 and the last hole is the finishing hole, the 18th.

  4. You may have quoted the statement out of context. The way it now stands it is absolutely meaningless.
