Tottenham Hotspur’s out of favour goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 when his contract with the North London club expires. However, the Brazilian is still hopeful of getting some playing time under new manager Andre Villas-Boas.
Gomes lost his spot in the first team under former manager Harry Redknapp, falling down the pecking order and becoming third choice goalkeeper for the club. The Brazilian had a decent season in the 2010/2011 Premier League campaign, but was error prone towards
the end and cost Spurs valuable points.
Redknapp had bought American goalkeeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Carlo-Cudicini-c8340 and spent most of his time on the bench or with the reserve team.
The 31-year old was clearly unhappy with the manager’s decision to not allow him any playing time. What was more frustrating for the player was perhaps the manager’s refusal to let him leave for another club. Gomes had yesterday spoken about his delight
at seeing Harry Redknapp leave the club and expressed his unhappiness while serving under him.
“Redknapp barely talked to me. I was playing really well when he hired Friedel. So I was really surprised and decided to ask him about that.”
“I asked Redknapp to let me go, but he said no to three offers for me. QPR, CSKA Moscow and Atletico http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mineiro-c25967 wanted me.”
Gomes has now stated his desire to leave Europe and return to his homeland when his contract at White Hart Lane expires. The player said:
"I have two more years under contract at Spurs and I intend to fulfil them. But I’m tired of Europe, I have reached my limit here."

"I’m 31-years-old and I’m thinking about moving back to Brazil. Atletico Mineiro wanted me, but Tottenham asked them to pay a fortune of £8 million for me and the negotiation finished."
The player is however hopeful of featuring for the Spurs this season and hopes to impress new manager Villas-Boas.  He feels that the club has a bright future under the Portuguese manager and is happy to see new signings come in.
