The Bayern Munich attacker has expressed his delight on his successful surgery and is eager to return t full fitness.
Mario Gomez suffered an ankle injury in the recently concluded Liga Total! Cup against Werder Bremen and was ruled out for six to eight weeks. It was revealed that the striker had to go through surgery for the injury which Gomez did successfully earlier this week.
The German international is happy that everything went well and has admitted that there is no pain. The player is looking forward to join light training in the next few weeks and is targeting a return to proceedings as soon as possible.
Gomez insisted that he is determined to reach full fitness as early as possible, but admitted that he would miss the start of the new season. There is possibility that the striker may take up to a month to return to action as he goes through the rehabilitation process.
Bayern will have the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Claudio-Pizarro-c9324 and Mario Mandzukic as good options in the absence of Gomez. Jupp Heynckes will have to decide between the duo for a place in the starting line-up.
“I’m delighted the operation went well and that the pain is gone. I’ll need to be a little patient now, but after that I’ll do everything I can to be available for selection again as quickly as possible,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, club doctor Hans-Wilhelm Muller-Wohlfahrt stated that the surgery went really well and that the player will have to rest in order to return to training in three weeks time. He insisted that Gomez will start his rehabilitation program in three weeks time which is good news for the club.
“The operation went extremely well. In all likelihood, Mario will have to sit out training for the next three weeks. After that, he’ll be able to start on a sports rehab programme,” he concluded.
Mario Gomez had a splendid season with Bayern Munich last term as he scored a total of 41 goals in the 52 games he took part in.
