Bayern Munich manager Jupp Heynckes has praised the striker for his heroics against Stuttgart and has admitted that he is a vital part of the club.
The tactician has hailed the German international for his stunning goal scoring form this season and has admitted that the striker is very important to Bayern’s title winning chances. He further added that it was a good away for
his side as most teams find it very difficult to come at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena and win.
The Munich giants were back on top after the weekend win against Stuttgart as Mario Gomez scored two goals. The side is leading the Bundesliga standings table with 34 points and have now secured 11 wins in the current season.
Heynckes admitted that it was a hard fought victory against Die Roten and that it was a crucial win for the visitors. He insisted that the home side made it very difficult for Bayern but the players handled the situation brilliantly
and in the end garnered all three points.
“There are still 18 games to play. The crucial thing was to come here today and win, which you can never take for granted in Stuttgart. Especially towards the end, you could see some of my players beginning to look drained,” he
was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former Bayer Leverkusen manager was all praise for Mario Gomez and admitted that the striker was the best player on the pitch as he scored two goals and worked very hard. He added that it was a special feeling for the forward
as he scored against his former club and guided the team to victory.
The manager insisted that the team would desperately need Gomez to keep scoring important goals as the season unfolds as they have a very good chance of winning the league.
“Gomez didn't just score the two goals; he also worked really hard when we weren't in possession. Games against Stuttgart are very special for him. Fortunately, he's scored both goals, and we really needed them,” he concluded.
Mario Gomez has so far scored 23 goals in the 23 games he has played for Bayern Munich this season and has been in staggering form.
