In my opinion, Miguel Cotto should be exclusively on Pay Per View. I think he has earned that. It's great that he is on HBO, but maybe he hasn't been established as a "house hold name", Anyone?

  1. Cotto has establish himself so far with Juda, Mosley, Quintana, Torres y Corley. I think that list of opponents does not compare to other 140 / 147 pounders. I know Cotto is doing the right thing, i think he has gone thru very demanding fights with potential knockout fighters in order to get to where he is right now or else look at the fights and see how many times Cotto was rocked and almost out. Alfoso Gomez will be less of a challenge but still with enough credit for Cotto to keep on his records having a tough opponent but not an elite one, we all know gomez is just coming up in rankings but he has done it really well. Cotto needs this sort of active / slow down without under estimating Gomez's heart.

  2. The problem with Miguel Cotto, no fault of his own, is that he really hasn't fought too many "mega-star" opponents outside of Shane Mosley and Zab Judah. I think that's the biggest reason why he hasn't earned that "house hold name" or became a big PPV attraction, yet. Unfortunately, there aren't too many big names quick to accept a showdown with him.

  3. Well gomez wanted a title fight so Cotto was the only one avilable.

  4. Cotto and his reps know this fight is a better fight for just regular HBO to give his fans a treat of seeing him.  So that his next fight against an opponent of better skill will sell better on PPV.  It's about exposure.  You fight someone of lesser skill to get more viewers, then fight a good fighter for money.

  5. Cotto should go after Mayweather or Cintron.  Everything else is a waste of time.
