Here's my situation....?

I am American. my husband british. We are living in American but will be moving to England within the next year. I have a daughter. We have not had any contact with her biological father for over a year. I don't even have his number or address. We were never married and his name is NOT on her birth certificate. There was never any visitation or moving conditions esablished. Do any of you have any experience with this? Can we move? I can't just sit around waititng for him to show to ask him if we can move. Thanks for your help

  1. if he hasn't shown interest & you haven't created any ties to him (name on birth certificate) then there really shouldn't be a problem...

  2. Pack your bags and head across the pond. Enjoy it over there.

  3. though I would talk to a family law attorney,I feel that there will be no problem.speaking strictly legally, the man has no claims.

  4. No name on BC no father. Unless he chooses to take you to court and prove paternity he has no claim.

Pack your bags and enjoy your life with your family, he is nothing to any of you as proved by lack of contact with your daughter.

A real father would be there as much as possible, kinda like your daughters real father-- your husband.

EDIT: My dads second wife and her current husband are more parents to me than either of my birth parents.

When my wife and I got married I had one half brother there who shared blood with me.

The rest of my "Family" came from both of their sides of the family.

Blood means nothing, it is all about heart.

I have 5 kids, I'll never tell which ones were mine before and which ones came with my current wife, and no one who meets our family could tell who's is who's either.

Good luck to your family and their future together.

  5. You can do whatever you want.  His name is not on the birth certificate, you're good to go.
