Gooch wants http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 to win the series after monumental achievement – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Graham-Alan-Gooch-c60530, England batting coach, says that team is aiming to win the four-match series, terming his side’s come from behind victory at Kolkata as a monumental achievement.
The Poms took a 2-1 lead in the series, after thumping http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 in back-to-back Tests, a fate the home side had not suffered since 2000. After the opening loss at Ahmedabad, their progress throughout the series has been impressive to say the least where they have confidently overcome the spin barrier and use it to their own advantage.
Their most recent outing showed just how far they have come to claim a series win in India, having last achieved the feat in 1984. Their batters piled on the runs under testing circumstances, before the bowlers stepped up to the task skilfully.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ST-Finn-c2566 also complemented the spinners in unfavourable circumstances. Their successive wins have ensured that they will not go home empty handed, and would be reasonably placed for their future sub-continent endeavours.
Gooch recognized the efforts of the players and coaching staff, but was eager to warn his side from complacency. Indians will certainly be looking to bounce back and at least earn a draw, but the batting coach feels that his side indeed holds the ascendency for now.
"It was a monumental achievement," Gooch said. "When you go 1-0 down against hosts who have a very good record in their own conditions, it's very satisfying when you can turn it round and use the skills you have practised long and hard to outplay the opposition.
"But I don't think for one minute that the guys think the job is done. We're 2-1 up with one to play. We want a positive result in Nagpur. I don't think I'm giving anything away by saying it's going to be a result pitch in Nagpur. If I was India I would want a result pitch to take my chances. "
The final Test of the four-match series takes place at Nagpur, from Thursday, before both sides lock horns in two T20Is to round off the first part of the tour.
