Question:

Good, Casual Day Care in Denver??

Hi there, I am from Denver and I lived with my wife and son in Mexico for the last several years. Our son was born in Mexico and is 2. So it is a big adjustment for both of them as my wife is also from Mexico.

Well, the last 6 months or so our son was going to a really neat daycare center and I want to find something similar here. It was casual as you would essentially buy a 'punch-card' and you could just bring him whenever for as many hours as you liked (i.e. 2 hours on one day and then 4 hours another day). Then they would just punch your prepaid punch-card for however many hours he was there (and pay a little extra if he ate lunch). It was a great place and he was really developing well there (and of course being Mexico it was very inexpensive).

I would like to think that in the good 'ol US we would have something as good as what we had there, but I don't know where to start. Most of what I've seen are all 'tuition' type places where they assume he'll be there everyday for 8 hours. Could it be that our daycare isn't as good as what they have to offer in Mexico??! If anybody has any ideas or knows a good but casual daycare in the (South) Denver area, please help!

  1. sounds like what you had in mexico was a 'drop in daycare' not a traditional mon-fri daycare.  we have one like that in st. louis mo, called kidsplay.  it's locally owned so i'm sure they don't have that particular one in denver but they may have one similar.  i'd suggest contacting the agency that licenses facilities in your state and get a list from them and start searching.  if there isn't one in your area, it sounds like a great business opportunity.  here is the link to the one in st. louis to see if this is close.  http://www.kidsplayfun.com/
