  1. Unfortunately bland, bland, bland.  He should take some sort of reflux medication before meals (Pepcid, tagament, nexium, etc) to reduce his risk of feeling so yucky after meals.  He doesn't have to cut out all fruits and veggies, but his selections will be limited.  Gerd-friendly fruits are basically just apples and bananas.  Gerd-friendly veggeis are peas, carrots, potatos, broccoli, cabbage and green beans. He should also limit dairy and cheeses.  Feta and goat cheese are ok, though (but pricy).  Skinless chicken breast, very lean ground meats, fishes, egg whites and london broil are also good on people with GERD.  Most gerd sufferers do well with just about any carb - it's the sauces that kill them.  My mom used to make egg noodles with cottage cheese - it wasn't bad.  She'd also make pasta with butter, a very small pinch of garlic and parmasean cheese sprinkled throughout.

    Good luck!

  2. is he on anything to prevent flare ups?  i was diagnosed with GERD about a year ago and have been on nexium ever since.  i can eat anything i want!  if i get a little sensation that something's not right, i pop a zantac and i'm good to go within 10 minutes!

  3. See if you can talk to a Dietitician or Nutritionist... they can give you loads of ideas (while on a budget).
