Question:

Good Activities for Babysitting?

I am a 13 year old babysitter. I babysit a 2 and a 5 year old (Both girls). I have roughly 10 dollars to spend (maybe a little more) at the dollar tree or something. I need some activities to help the two girls stay entertained. I can buy some things, but prefer to just use things I have around the house. Please help. Also any websites with printable games, or activities are much appreciated. They love to play outside, and the older one loves to play "Princess". The younger one kinda goes with the flow.

  1. look for no-bake or microwave recipes- cooking is great for kids, story time, dollar stores have some fun kids stuff..

  2. One majorly fun thing to do with kids outside is to make a big bucket of bubbles for them to play with. You can buy the premixed bubbles or simply use any dish soap. You can use cookie cutters as the bubble wands or pick up a few at the dollar store. For something to do inside if its bad weather, buy some cookie mixes and let the girls help you make the cookies. Using cookie cutters and letting them shape their own Cookie's. You can buy almost any kind of mix for a little over a dollar. Gingerbread men/women are fabulous because you can buy little candies for them to decorate them with. This not only keeps them occupied but gives them a great sense of accomplishment. They will brag to their parents and tell their parents how much fun you are! Which is sure to get you more babysitting jobs. Good Luck and have Fun. Also playing dress up (with moms permission) you can borrow some clothes and jewelry and play fairy princess. Girls are so much fun that way.

  3. You could look up the recipe for peanut butter play dough. Make it with them, they can use cookie cutters and then eat it. Have them wash their hands first though and put down a paper plate or wax paper in case it sticks. Have a sparkle party give them mini makeovers with some new hair styles and barrettes some lipgloss and anything sparkly that there parents won't have to wash off them. Make mini wands out of ribbon that you curl and lollipops. Watercolor pictures are always fun. Have them Draw there name with a yellow or white crayon and then paint over it for a resist-tell them bright colors only or take brown and black away. Challenge the older one to throw a ball up (beach ball type or something that won't hurt coming down) tell her to clap her hands before she catches it. Tell her to see how many times she can clap before she has to catch it. Give the little one a beach ball and let her try to hit it to you using just her feet the five year old might find this fun too. Hope that helps. Have fun and enjoy them, become part of their make believe world which all kids love.

  4. crayola is your friend, buy some washable colors and print out coloring pages and that will keep them busy for a while then eating and sleeping should take up the rest of the time!

  5. heres what i did-

I made up clues to send the girls o a trip around the house, getting little suprises along the way.  At the end, i got them each like 2 dollar gifts and the girls that i babysit for had the greatest time

  6. If you get any ideas let me know I am looking for the same thing, well for activites anyways.

  7. Maybe you can make some play-dough with some of the materials at your house. Here is a recipe:

    2 cups baking soda

    1 1/2 cups water

    1 cup cornstarch

Mix with a fork until smooth. Boil over medium heat until thick. Spoon onto plate or wax paper.

And maybe you could print out some coloring pages of princes's for them to color! Mail me to see if you like the ideas, or if you used them tell me how they worked out!
