Question:

Good Beginner Level HD Camcorder?

Okay, I want to get a small, below $1,000 camcorder. i want it to be an HD camcorder, not record on mini dvds(or full size, for that matter) and to be small and lightweight. I saw one, and I think Sanyo or somebody showcased it at E3. I want one that is like that. Or that one(depending on how much it is - anybody know)

Help me. I would prefer it to be under $600, but absolutley no more than $800. And, not a huge tv-production camera either. A small one for things like film festivals, youtube, and other stuff.

Thanks for the help.

  1. Don't sp[end your entire budget on the camcorder...

Take a look at the Canon HD20 or HV30. DV and HDV, 24p, 30p, 1080i, 60i. Or the Sony HDR-HC7 or HC9 (no progressive frames, but SuperNightShot and SmoothSlowMotion). Your computer will need a firewire port. Transferring video for editing over USB will not work.

All four have a mic jack, headphone jack, and manual audio control. You also want to get a tripod, some mics, a camera bracket to mount a mic... and get a rechargeable high capacity battery or 2. And a sturdy case. May some lenses (wide angle, 2x tele).

  2. Sony HDR-SR12- record 1080p and has a 120GB HDD. AVCHD too!

  3. If you want some general information on choosing a Camcorder take a look at the article “Choosing A Camcorder” at http://www.ClickDigitalProducts.com/arti... it also indicates the current  Best Buys for the different Camcorder types. You can also register for a free copy of VideoMaker magazine from this same web page which you might also find useful.

  4. **** hd, it is over rated unless you are using true HD, HDV and that compressed HD sucks. It isn't worth the money, get yourself a decent 3CCD camera..
