  1. Chinese Cinderella by Adeline Yen Mah.

its a really good book about a chinese girl whose life just like the fairy tale Cinderella, and we also learn stuff about Chinese culture.

    The Outsiders by S.E Hinton

I'd really recommend this book, its really good for middle schooler. Its about teenager Ponyboy who got himself into trouble and from that he learns that everyone are the same, they still humans no matter who they are( low class, middle class, upper class)

    Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.

another good book about a girl whose entering her high school freshman year, but she have some kind of depression because last summer she got raped and we learn how she gain her confidence.

  3. crosses by shelly stoehr

  4. Hmm. *thinks*

The Bartimaeus Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud (It's sort of a fantasy/adventure/violence genre.)

DragonKeeper Chronicles by Donita K Paul (about a girl named Kale and her dragon, basically.)

Inkheart/Inkspell by Cornelia Funke (about a man who reads stories to his daughter and they come alive.. o.o)

Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan (about a boy named Percy Jackson, who's birth father is Poseidon. An adventure type series about Greek Mythology.. you'll just have to read it :D)

  5. Young Adult books, I guess, then.

I think if you want some comedy, go for the Confessions of Georgia Nicolson series by Louise Rennison. It's about the life of a 14(?) year old girl called- you guessed it- Georgia. Plenty of laughs, lots of over-exaggeration but it's a fun read.

For the more serious side, there's always Harry Potter. Aside from the obvious, there's a fantastic Noughts and Crosses series by Malorie Blackman focusing on the consequences of racism - it's a good read, trust me.

For a mind-boggling challenge, try to read the Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown. Believe his theory or not, it's quite a challenging read.

And for a truly classic read, then check out Philip Pullman's "His Dark Materials" series- starting with Northern Lights. That's one of the best series I've read - its genre is fantasy.

Good luck in finding a book, and I hope I've helped!

  6. Raisen in the sun

  7. I doubt a 13-year-old could read any thing by Toni Morrison and truly appreciate it.  My suggestion is "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monke Kid.  I read it in the 9th grade and enjoyed it.  It's been made into a movie that's being released later this year, so if you like to read books and then compare it to the movie, you can.  It's a pretty good book - in spite of the title, which sounds a little frumpy - and is good for boys and girls.  Google it to find a summary and trailer from the upcoming movie.  I will warn you that the movie looks like it's not nearly as good as the book and not very serious.  The movie stars Queen Latifah, Dakota Fanning, Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson; they're all very talented ladies but definitely not the people I envisioned when I read the book.

  8. Speak by Laurie Halse....(Caution:  it deals with the sensitive subject of rape, but not in graphic detail)

Chronicles of Narnia series by C.S. Lewis

Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling

Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer

Orphe by Cynthia Voigt...cool fiction about teenage rock stars, male and female

Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison...African-American fiction

I Know This Much Is True by Wally Lamb

She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb

The ABC Murders by Agatha Christie

The Earth, My Butt, and Other Big Round Things....don't remember author

    Ella Minnow Pea by Marc?

The Cat Who Had 60 Whiskers by Lillian Jackson Braun...good mystery

  9. To Kill and Mockingbird

    The Outsiders

    Lord of the Flys

    The Great Gatsby (GREAT BOOK)
