Question:

Good Bowling Alley For Winter League Near Philadelphia?

I live in Center City Philadelphia and commute by car to Plymouth Meeting for work. I am a recent college graduate who is looking to join a weeknight bowling league either somewhere near Philadelphia or Plymouth Meeting.

The bowling alleys I have found in Philadelphia itself are all “lounges” and, while cool, are not what I am looking for. While growing up in central New Jersey I remember spending time with my parents while they got together with their friends for their weekly bowling leagues where they ate some bad bar food, bowled decently, and had a good time. This is the bowling “experience” that I’m looking for.

My friend, who works and lives in West Philadelphia, also wants to join the same league, so a bowling alley that is relatively close to use SEPTA to get to would be ideal, too.

Anyone know of any alleys like that?

  1. If you work in Plymouth Meeting, Facenda Whitaker lanes offer leagues almost every day of the week.  It is an old school bowling alley with 50 or so lanes.  There is a sports bar attached to it (Steppys) which is anything but a lounge.

I would give them a call and see what they have to offer.
