Good Classic Books??

I feel ashamed to admit this, even though I spend a good portion of my day reading, but I haven't read many classic books in my fourteen years. Well yeah, I have read some like Anne of Green Gables, Around the World in Eighty days, A Little Princess, Oliver Twist, and a few others. But I few so dumb.

So fellow yahoo answers, care to suggest any good classics for me to read next? By the way, could you also include a bit of background info on it? I don't know which one to chose when they're all on a list.

  1. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. It's my favorite novel. I love it. It's basically the story of two people who are in love, end up not marrying each other, then try to force their kids into living each other so they can live vicariously through it. It's a weird story, but it's awesome. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte (Emily's sister) is great as well. It's about an orphan girl, Jane, who lives with her rude cousins and mean aunt. Eventually she goes away to school, then later becomes a teacher for a young French girl named Adele. Adele's guardian is a man named Rochester. Jane and Rochester fall in love, and that's basically all I can say. It's a great book as well.

The Mayor of Casterbridge by Thomas Hardy is the classic I most recently read. It's about a man (Henchard) who gets drunk then sells his wife and child to another man in a fit of rage. He looks for them, but they've disappeared. He goes on with his life, becoming the mayor of Casterbridge. Eventually he meets Donald Farfrae, a likable and charming young man. His wife and child return, and everything basically goes downhill from there until he brings ruin upon himself. It's a long book, and rather slow, but it was so good.

  2. Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen (it's my favorite, that's why).

Count of Monte Cristo by Edmond Dantes

    Dante's Inferno by Dante

    Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

These are some of the Classics. Hope you like them.

    Happy Reading =)
