In the United states, what collages have good Eventing equestrian teams? A good place where I can keep and ride my horse at any time?

Does anybody know of a web site that had a bunch of collages and info about them?

I was thinking about Cal Poly... anybody know about the equestrian program there?

  1. virginia is a great state to look for riding colleges and eventing competitions! Va is one of the top states for eventing and horses in general. Karen O'Connor (the olypian) and her husband have their farm here. Va Tech is a good horsey school. they have an equine science major, and a great  riding team. Virginia intermont is one of the top riding teams in the US. Sweet Briar is a private all girls school that allows you to board your own horse in their barn. it's very nice! hollins college has a riding team, radford university has a riding team, and averett university has an equine major plus a riding team

  2. Delaware Valley College!!!! in Doylestown, Pennsylvania!

  3. Check out this book:

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Horse-Schools-In...

No schools have eventing teams. Too much $$ and risk involved. The only english that is done is dressage and hunter/jumper and (I think) english pleasure.

Equestrian Programs: This could be a VERY wide range of things. Be more specific.

E-mail me or I will update this if you add info

EDIT: Yeah, I think all of them allow you to show on your own (can't do much about it any way) but the teams/trainers are not nice if you miss one of the schools shows for a personal show. You will also have to pay to have your own horse and training while away at college on TOP of your college/team expenses.

EDIT 2: The only big No-No I can think of right now is not being an amature. If you have lost your amature status, you cannot be on the team.

  4. I am interested in a college equestrian team as well, and I do not know a lot about the ones I have heard of and I have not yet looked into them, sorry, but I can make some suggestions about ones you should look into.  I know North Carolina State has a team, but I think they call it a club, try googling it.  I also heard that the University of North Carolina and Duke University both have one.  Also, I heard of a few in Virginia, including VT, have eq teams.  Hope this helps!

  5. Definatly William Woods. It's in Fulton Missouri. Not a poputlar town but the college is excellent!!!

www.williamwoods.edu click on the little horsey on the top and EXPLORER!!! I think you will like it a buch.

  6. Cal POly has a CRAZY horse program, they even have this thing where you get to break in yearlings.

they do english and western, and i'm fairly certain they do eventing (  i think i went to a show where they were but i was really young so i don't remember)

you should just email the coach and i'm sure she will have plenty of information for you.  i have corresponded with her and she has always responded helpfully and promptly

    here is her email: jdearles@csupomona.edu

and here is their website: http://www.csupomona.edu/~equine/activit...

i'm starting cal poly this fall. so excited : )

    good luck!!
